Bob McCown Doesn’t Get It…
I’m slightly incensed at the moment and I’ll try to explain my viewpoint.
On my commute home from work today I was listening to the FAN1 as I am occasioned to do. Bob (Bobcat) McCown2 a sports jock who is also showcased on Sportsnet3, was doing his regular show when a caller called in and the discussion revolved around the ECF Game 34 and in his opinion how boring it was to watch. And how he won’t watch any more games from this series.
Why you might ask?
Bob equates goal scoring to excitement. Only goal scoring. So in his mind unless there are a multitude of goals, it isn’t exciting to him. Here’s why a one goal game, during the playoffs, is exciting:
- Breakout chances / odd man rushes
- Great, game saving saves
- If you are the trailing team: can you come back and tie the game.
- If you are ahead, you are on the edge of your seat wondering if your guys will be able to hold on. Can they get the insurance goal?
You know what I find boring? When Sportnet (Toronto Region) shows the TV broadcast of Bob’s radio show (taped earlier) instead of the hockey game they are showing on Sportnet (Ottawa Region). It boggles the mind. Why would I want to watch some idiot wearing shades indoors talking on the radio four - six hours in the past when my team is being shown on the same network but just not in Toronto.
Bob sucks.
